I heard it again, a little louder this time . And then I heard it again and again and I realized what it was… snoring and it was coming from Crazy Harold's bunk in the next room….
Well, I tried to go back to sleep but I just kept hearing it. Not very loud, but just steady enough to BUG ME! So I stuck my head under my pillow. And for a few minutes, it worked!! I couldn't hear anything. So I smiled to myself and started drifting off to sleep when suddenly the snoring was back, LOUDER than ever!!
I didn't know if anyone else was even awake, so I said…
(aloud, tentatively) Do you guys hear that?
(shouting) YES!!!
You'd have to be dead to not hear that RACKET!!! What are we gonna do?
I dare you to put a clothespin on his nose!
Maybe we could stuff marshmallows up his nose, I have some right here (SFX crackling bag) well… I did anyway…
I think the easiest thing to do would be to just shut his door! I'll do it. (SFX pattering feet, click of door being shut.)
Well, we thought that was the end of it…but we were WRONG!! The next thing we heard was (SFX huge, loud snore blinds flapping and windowpanes rattling)
Old Crazy Harold was now snoring louder than ever!! The air in our room was being sucked under the door, which rattled the blinds and shook the windowpanes!! And his snores just kept getting bigger and huger (SFX Brian is cut off by tremendous snore)
That one sucked the blankets right off our beds!! They went flying through the air and got sucked under the door!! !! (SFX another, even bigger snore, screaming and yelling) By now we were all in fear for our lives!! We were being sucked right out of our beds!! Katie and Roxie were hanging onto their bedposts with two hands and both feet were flying out behind them. Double Dare Dalvin had managed to crawl into a closet, but Harold sucked the door right off and now he was holding onto a clothes hook for dear life.
Luckily Sticky had the brains to put on his shoes, which of course were so full of gum and caramel goo that they were stuck to the floor. He was leeeeaaaaannnning toward the door, but those feet of his weren't about to budge. Not even the mightiest of Harold's snores could unstick those sticky shoes!!! And so I grabbed onto Sticky's VERY sticky, chocolatey hand, and I knew that I was safe toooooo! (SFX Huge snore -sudden silence)
Suddenly, we didn't hear snoring anymore. Katie and Roxie were still clinging to their bedpost, but at least their feet were on the ground now. DDD crept slowly out of the closet, all the while grabbing for the nearest solid object as he made his way back to his bed. I pulled and pulled until my hand finally came unglued from Sticky's, and he simply stepped out of his sticky shoes.
We all crept quietly back into our own bunks. I crawled into my sleeping bag, grateful that I could FINALLY, FINALLY get some sleep. I was sooooo tired. I was just drifting off into a sound sleep when suddenly….
